united house delivers Thrive housing improvements

100th home now complete

Local youth club set to benefit

Improvements to 3,700 homes in the Three Rivers district reached its first milestone today with the completion of the 100th property in the programme by leading contractor United House.

To mark the occasion, Thrive Homes and United House presented the resident of the 100th home, Ms Elsie Duggan of Hornhill Road, Maple Cross with flowers and a £200 contribution to the charity of her choice.

Housing association, Thrive Homes, with leading housing contractor and developer, United House is improving 3,700 homes across the Three Rivers district in a project valued at £18.4 million. The refurbishments include an upgrade of the communal areas in properties, bedrooms, bathrooms, re-wiring the buildings and general maintenance.

Ms Duggan donated the funds to the West Hyde & Maple Cross Youth Centre on Old Uxbridge Road. She said:
'I am absolutely thrilled with the improvements to my home and what a stroke of luck to be named the 100th resident! The West Hyde & Maple Cross Youth Centre holds a special place in my heart as each of my children were regular visitors there when growing up.'

'The centre brings the whole community together, providing playgroups, a common ground for local football teams to gather, school holiday projects and army cadets. It's great to be able to give them something back.'

Jeffrey Adams, Chief Executive of United House, said:
'Today marks significant progress for us. The project is providing people like Ms Duggan with modern upgraded homes and it is good to see the £200 contributing towards further investment in the community. We will be working closely with Thrive Homes to make sure that the remaining work is carried out as quickly and smoothly as possible.'

Jo Barrett, Property Director of Thrive Homes said:
'The project is the initial part of our overall investment plan to improve the lives of residents day on day and, with more than 100 people now enjoying their newly-refurbished properties, the plans are really starting to take shape. Our vision is clear: focusing on people and keeping our promises. Our aim is to provide good quality, affordable homes, enhanced by our investment programme, in places where people will enjoy living.'

United House is Thrive Homes' sole Decent Homes delivery partner following the Large Scale Voluntary Transfer (LSVT) in Three Rivers district.
