United House and Adris win top IT award for FLAG design system

Leading social housing contractor United House Ltd, in partnership with Adris Computing Concepts, has recently been named as a winner at the 2007 iTShowcase Awards which acknowledge and celebrate the best technology partnerships in the construction industry. Adris, along with United House Ltd which supplies and installs heating systems, won the Awards' Most Successful IT Return on Investment category for its FLAG Heating Design system.
United House's FLAG Design system was created to speed up and simplify the design process used in heating projects. It is based on a revolutionary spreadsheet which calculates heat losses. The system creates defaults to speed up data entry, for example U values for walls and windows common to each property. Other factors are taken into account including air changes and room temperature. Flag Design works within the AutoCad programme and requires zero input by the operator.
FLAG has reduced design times by 30 minutes for each heating installation; giving a 70% reduction in design costs; a saving of £100,000 each year resulting from reduced design time and a saving of £200,000 each year on project materials.
