VACANCIES - Quantity Surveyor

Location: Swanley

Reporting to: Director

Hours: When office based 9.00 am to 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
  • Report to the Surveying Director on all financial issues.
  • Manage day-to-day co-ordination of the team to ensure delivery to programme.
  • Liaise with Design Department and production team on value engineering matters and design queries as appropriate.
  • Act as point of reference to all departments with regard to cost.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
  • Liaise with production and design teams to ensure completeness of the design package.
  • Placement of subcontract orders including:
  • Liaising with Contracts Manager to agree an Order Letting Programme
  • Placements of orders are to be in good time to ensure the construction programme is maintained.
  • Arrange pre-contract order meeting, take minutes and ensure inclusion within main order.
  • Management and payment of subcontractor accounts (ensuring they are paid correctly and in accordance with relevant Tax & VAT Regulations).
  • Forecasting and management of construction cost.
  • Prepare a Cost Variance Report for monthly progress and board meetings.
  • Update a Variation Account on a monthly basis.
  • Monthly prepare Cost to Complete.
  • Continuously review product specification and methods of construction.

  • Where appropriate manage sub-ordinates work load and act as a point of reference and mentor.
  • Valuations ensuring they are properly and accurately carried out.
  • Maintain an up-to-date set of drawings.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
Candidates must have:-
  • HNC Construction/Building Studies or equivalent
Candidates are preferred who have:-
  • Good communication skills
  • Good organisation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines
  • Experience in refurbishment projects
